Understand sign-in error messages
Some sign-in problems come from your account, and some come from how a site is set up. Find the message you see below.
Messages about the site
"This site isn't set up for sign-in yet."
The site hasn't finished setting up Omxus. Only the site can fix this. Contact the site.
"This site isn't allowed to use this sign-in."
The sign-in is running on a web address the site didn't register with Omxus. This protects you from pages pretending to be the site. Check the web address in your browser. If it's the real site, contact the site.
"Open this from the site itself."
This step, like saving a passkey, only works on the site's own page. Go to the site directly and try again.
A sign-in page error with no sign-in form
The site asked for something Omxus doesn't allow, such as sending you back to an address it never registered. Omxus stops the sign-in to keep your account safe. Contact the site.
Messages about your account
"Too many tries. Wait 15 minutes and try again."
Too many attempts came from your address, account or network in a short time. Wait 15 minutes. Answers also slow down a little after a few wrong tries.
"You have been signed out. Sign in again." or "Sign in first."
Your sign-in ended or reached its time limit. Sign in again. Learn how long sign-ins last.
"Confirm it is you first." or "That didn't match. Try again."
Sensitive changes, like a new password or deleting your account, need you to confirm it's you with your password or a code, unless you signed in within the last 10 minutes.
"This account is turned off. Contact the site for help."
"This passkey is your only way to sign in. Add a password first."
Removing it would lock you out. Add a password or another passkey, then remove this one.
"Those details didn't sign you in. Check them and try again."
Your name, date of birth or secret words didn't produce a valid sign-in. Check each one is typed exactly as before.
"That email address doesn't look right." or "That mobile number doesn't look right."
Check for typos. Add your country code, like +44, to mobile numbers from outside Australia.
"Something went wrong. Reload the page and try again."
Reload the page. If it keeps happening, try another browser or a private window.
For code messages, see Fix problems with codes.
Need more help?
Ask the site you were signing in to about its own service. For your Omxus account, try these next steps.
